Atmospheric Single Drum Dryers

Atmospheric Single Drum Dryers (ASDD) with applicator rolls are highly effective for drying high viscosity liquids or pasty materials such as potatoes, starches, gelatins, adhesives and synthetic resins with high drying efficiency, low operating cost and long term operational reliability.

Product Details

The Buflovak ASDD provides continuous operation and consists of one rotating saturated steam pressurized center drum and multiple rotating water cooled or non-cooled applicator rolls spaced around the periphery of the drum. The rotating applicator rolls eliminate void areas, permit drying between successive layers of fresh material to form the product sheet gradually resulting in a product sheet of uniform thickness, density and minimum dusting tendencies.

The center drum standard construction is cast iron or fabricated steel with pressure rating of 140 to 160 psig and complies with ASME or PED Pressure Code requirements. Non-standard drums can be supplied to conform to other national design and construction codes. The applicator rolls can be constructed of stainless steel or chrome plated carbon steel.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

Atomospheric Single Drum Dryer

Indirect drying technology via conductive heat transfer provides homogeneous and evenly dried products without product degradation.
Steam pressurized center drum with multiple rotating water cooled or non-cooled applicator rolls deliver highly effective drying of materials.
Adjustable rotating applicator rolls produce a dry product sheet with uniform thickness, density, and minimum dusting.
Innovative self-cleaning drying surface for low cleanup
Standard ASME or PED Pressure Code compliant steel drum constructed of cast iron or fabricated steel delivers a 140 – 160 psig pressure rating and provides long-lasting durability.

Due to the hundreds of various types of products and operating environments, almost all aspects of a drum dryer’s mechanical design, operating components and ancillary equipment can be customized to meet each individual process design needs. The vast majority of Buflovak single drum dryers are installed on a production- guaranteed basis because the specific process (chemistry) design was tested and then pilot-run in the Buflovak laboratory, which provided reliable scale-up data for correct dryer configuration and drum surface area to meet each individual process design application.

Provide Your Design Requirements

This chart is an example of the flexible atmospheric single drum dryer surface area range to meet your specific dry product production rate. The drum length of any given drum diameter can be adjusted for exact drying surface area requirements to meet and balance upstream (liquid) process and downstream (dry solid) capacity design.

Testing & Lab Rentals

Test your materials in one of our world-class pilot scale testing facilities. The Buflovak Research & Test Center located in Tonawanda, NY provides access to multiple dryers, flakers, single and double drum units, and cast iron and chrome plated drums. CPEG’s Innovation Center & Testing Lab in Louisville, KY, provides access to a variety of additional process equipment technologies for multistep processing. Lab rentals are available when it is not feasible to perform testing at one of our facilities.
