Rising Falling Film Evaporators

The Buflovak Rising Falling Evaporator or Concentrator (RFC) delivers high tube velocities which assures uniform product distribution and high coefficients of heat transfer. These concentrators are suitable for evaporating liquids that are heat sensitive and require minimum process time, pure or non-crystal forming, low to medium viscosities, foamy, and those containing fine suspended solids.

Product Details

The rising falling film evaporator (RFC), or recirculating version (RRFC), works on uniform metered flow entering the bottom of the steam chest and rises through the first pass with rapidly increasing velocity. After leaving the first pass the flow of the vapor liquid mixture is reversed and directed downward through the second pass at extremely high velocity. The mixture then enters the separator where the vapor and liquid are separated.

When not designed as a circulation unit, the rising falling film evaporator provides once through evaporation of heat sensitive materials, requiring minimum retention time. It is particularly adaptable to multiple effect systems but provides a lesser turn-down capability than the RRFC configuration.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

Rising Falling Film Evaporator

High tube velocoties minimize fouling.
Designed to achieve high concentrations at low temperatures
Liquid passes directly out of steam chest rather than being re-entrained with vapor from the separator to significantly reduce entrainment.
System may be turned down without loss of efficiency or effectiveness.
RFC’s quick holding time provides maximum efficiency.
Low headroom requirement for space-constraining installations.
RFC evaporator design handles thixotropic materials.

Testing & Lab Rentals

Test your materials in one of our world-class pilot scale testing facilities. The Buflovak Research & Test Center located in Tonawanda, NY provides access to multiple dryers, flakers, single and double drum units, and cast iron and chrome plated drums. CPEG’s Innovation Center & Testing Lab in Louisville, KY, provides access to a variety of additional process equipment technologies for multistep processing. Lab rentals are available when it is not feasible to perform testing at one of our facilities.
