About Buflovak
Buflovak has a long and proud history in Western New York. With roots back to the 1845 partnership of David Bell and William McNish, by the early 1900’s Buffalo Foundry & Machine Co., the predecessor to Buflovak, was a leading producer of chemical apparatus, vacuum dryers, vacuum pumps, condensers, receivers, filters, crystallizers, and castings up to 100 tons. By 1927 the Company was one of the largest manufacturers of heavy castings in the United States.
From Scotland to Buffalo, NY

Scottish machinist and mechanical engineer David Bell arrived in Buffalo, NY and began working at the Buffalo Steam Engine Works.
World’s 1st Steam Driven Grain Elevator & Steam Hammer

David Bell organized the Bell Engineering Works, which is credited with inauguration steam transport on the Erie Canal, inventing the world’s first steam driven grain elevator and steam hammer.
Buffalo Foundry Company
Charles Dunbar, W.J. Hayes and E. G. Rippel organized the Buffalo Foundry Company for the manufacture of casting and engineering work.
Acquisition

Buffalo Foundry Company acquired the David Bell Engineering Works. The two consolidated business became known as Buffalo Foundry & Machine Company.
Buffalo Foundry & Machine Company & Vacuum Dryers

Buffalo Foundry & Machine Company erected a specialized machine shop at East Ferry and Winchester Ave. to extend the manufacture of David Bell steam hammers, vacuum dryers and impregnators.
Buflovak Brand

Buflovak brand name was created for the evaporators and dryers designed and manufactured by the Buffalo Foundry & Machine Company.
R&D Established

Buflovak Research Laboratory established.
Evaporate / Dryer Patents

Buflovak developed several evaporate and dryer patents for processing and drying of milk products.
Acquisition

Blaw-Knox purchased Buffalo Foundry & Machine Company to access the chemical and food process equipment industries.

White Consolidated acquired Blaw-Knox.
Buffalo Technologies Corp.
Food and Chemical Equipment Division of Blaw-Know was devised and sold to Buffalo Technologies Corporation.
Buflovak, LLC.
Buffalo Technologies Corporation was reorganized as Buflovak, LLC.
Patterson Kelley Process Equipment to Buflovak

Patterson Kelley Process equipment was divested from the Patterson Kelley heat transfer division (Harsco) and sold to Buflovak, LLC.
Acquisition

Hebeler Holdings LLC purchases Buflovak LLC and with it, the Patterson Kelley Process Equipment IP, calling it Hebeler Process Solutions.
CPEG

CPEG purchases the assets of Hebeler Holdings to market and sell its expansive line of Dryers, Calciners, Evaporators, Mixers, Dust Collectors, and process experience.
Vacuum & Thermal Process Equipment
The foundation for today’s Buflovak vacuum and thermal process equipment products was established when the Company entered the dryer and evaporation process equipment business, producing patented equipment, primarily for milk processing, in 1905. This product line was expanded to a variety of industries over the subsequent decades and by the 1930’s Buflovak had become the worlds foremost expert in the design and construction of vacuum dryers and evaporators. By 1993, the Company was acquired and split into multiple companies to focus on specific core competencies aimed at turning around the business.

Today’s Buflovak
In 2016 Buflovak joined Hebeler and together became known as Hebeler Process Solutions, LLC (HPS).
In 2024, Buflovak was acquired by Carrier Process Equipment Group, Inc. (CPEG). This partnership will offer a whole new realm of custom manufacturing capabilities along with additional process equipment for complete systems integration.
Buflovak will continue developing internationally recognized product lines and custom process solutions.
